First Day!

The last 10 days have been more than manic! Thank you everybody for your support the responce has been overwelming.

The shop is now open. It was a slow start to the day but ended up being very productive. The memebers of Young Corn Exchange came down with plenty of ideas for the space.

The next few days will be spent putting a timetable of projects and activities together.

There is still lots of work to be done but a massive amount of progress has been made.

Youthlot will be open Mon-Sat 10am-6pm for the time being. Feel free to pop in with any ideas, suggestions, lend a hand or just to have a look at what we are doing.

Posters!

We've been smartening up the shop and drawing posters this morning.

YOUTHLOT opening this Saturday!

YOUTHLOT youth art cafe is a new project that Susan Hynes has set up in an empty shop in Newbury. The space will open this Saturday (26th) from 10am to 6pm, and it’s at 4-6 King’s Road West (round the corner from the King Charles Tavern). Please come along to see what’s happening, and bring your ideas for the space!

YOUTHLOT is a space for young people to drop in and use as they wish. There’s going to be:

-a gallery downstairs showing work from young and local artists
-a cafe with home-made cakes
-a chill-out space upstairs with space to hang out and listen to music
-a project space upstairs for workshops and activities

On Saturday Susan is inviting young people to come in and see the space to talk about what they want to do with it. We will also be making a zine-style newsletter written by and for young people. Come along, have a cuppa and tell us what activities you would like to see happening!

This blog will be updated with the latest information about what's going on - please use it as a space to suggest ideas.

Susan also really wants to hear from anyone who wants to use the space – artists, workshop leaders, music fans. If you have an idea or a project that you would like to see in the space please get in touch (contact@susanhynes.co.uk)!
